James E. Shulkin, Principal

James Shulkin started his professional career in hospital administration and later focused his career on healthcare marketing and communications. His 30+ years of tenure as a marketing consultant, director and manager provided extensive insight into the skills needed to excel in all aspects of marketing, including public relations, internal communications, print, TV, radio and video production, social media and web-based strategies.

James is the Senior Vice President & Chief Brand Officer – Healthcare at Noise, Inc. Noise is a brand activation company with 30+ years experience in travel, hospitality, healthcare, recreation, attractions, food & beverage, education and more. He provides regular blogs for the proposed Madison Public Market, Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society and writes a weekly Industry Report for CODAworx, the global online community that celebrates design projects featuring commissioned artworks.

When not writing and consulting, Shulkin is a sculpture artist. He serves as Chief Kinetic Officer at Windworker Studio, and designs, makes, installs and delivers Windflowers. Windflowers are kinetic garden sculptures that resemble giant flowers spinning in the wind. As principal artist at Fishmonger Studio, he makes mixed media fish sculpture.

Most recently, he was the Internal Communication Manager at Quartz Health Solutions, Inc. He authored memorandums and blogs for executives including Manager’s Briefings, published and provided the majority of content for two newsletters, and managed the WeKnow intranet. Before Quartz, he served as the Director, Planning and Market Development at Fort HealthCare, Fort Atkinson, WI. Previously, he was employed by Epic Systems in Verona, WI and Physicians Plus Medical Group in Madison, WI. He began his hospital administration career in a variety of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania based rehabilitation hospitals.

Shulkin has been active on a number of professional and non-profit boards including Rainbow Hospice Care, the Wisconsin Health Care Public Relations and Marketing Society (WHPRMS) and The Wisconsin Forum for Healthcare Strategy. He serves on the board of directors at Artworking, Inc. He is also a board member of the Madison Public Market Foundation working to make the proposed Market Madison’s next great attraction.
